It's a long term investment, paid advertising. And of course I want to improve them, because when I did my last serious campaign I received a ref for every 250-300 views on average. Which is incredible really but it worked. It's all about optimizing your marketing materials, and that's what I'm doing here. If you just spam your advertising without any research/tests you're doomed to fail. I usually don't even touch banner advertising and with banners it's even more important to properly do a thorough research on where to advertise on - and to optimize the banners - I plan on making a huge mixed campaign, with banners included but I surely won't be using the banners available. They advertise PV from PV's point of view and thus don't convert well. Even with banners you have to "personalize" them. And when I say that I plan on getting 1000s of refs I don't mean that they're just numbers to me. I've always been available to every single one of my refs, corresponded with tons of them, and even though the majority of these "bought" refs do not stay long, if you work hard on helping them quite a decent amount stay. In my case, about 500 of my refs are from PTC advertising and while most are gone, about 70-80 of them have been with PV for over 3 months now and most of them have purchased ads, a few even 1000$+ worth. So for now that has been working very well for me, but I do have a huge project(branding will be a huge part of it, as you say) coming up, that will help out not just me and any other PV/MTV member, but should also be a huge asset to any serious bigger sponsors like myself.
