With times its really horrible on both sites. Im not sure if it only excist with the visual captcha or also with recaptcha.  If only recaptcha works its about time to add solvemedia as an option too.  Btw i dont think its a captcha problem but a server problem. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to get completely rid of these issues, as they are very complicated in nature. Many are still relating back to the awful code architecture of MTV, and things like caching/reading a lot of data. There ARE solutions to this (complete code rewrite of certain systems) - but they'd be extremely expensive and time-consuming. Bear in mind we also don't currently have a full time core programmer to deal with any such issues quickly, as, well, we can't afford one. There is another simple solution, that would at least reduce the occurrence/severity of these issues (at least until the reasons behind them scale up, and doubling down on this solution would be needed again) - which is increasing our baseline server capacities. However, that again would add a significant fixed monthly cost again, which we have tried to reduce to a minimal level. In the end this is a balancing act between performance and opportunity cost - and based on our current revenues, and performance of sites most affected by this (PV, PTC), investing a lot of time/money into resolving this "properly" would simply not be worth it, of what is at least a minimum of a few thousand in extra costs each month. Dealing with this now would further delay any sort of FTQ payments and further reduce our profitability. Wasn't PTCshare supposed to be used to test things out and if it works, it would be copied to Paidverts? Maybe think of simple solutions, like loading the capture together with the frame. The frame seems to load fine (so load the capture sooner and separate of the advertisement site). It seems something has changed. It has been running fine for years, then the problem appeared that the capture isn't loading and now also that the capture takes about 10 seconds to load. What has changed that caused this? I see the account-maintenance fees go down. Is that because the amount of active members is going down? Are the capture problems the main reason for this? If so, then it is risky not to deal with it. Isn't it possible to tweak the current code with as minimum effort as possible, so that it doesn't cache and read as much anymore? A lot is calculated real-time, maybe update periodically instead of all the real-time processing. Just my 2 cents, I don't know what is viable and what not. slosumo - Administrator Traffic Value: $28,438.4426 Slovenia 2 like this post 0 people 16/07/2021 05:50 PTCshare had a lot of things rewritten which are done much better, and indeed they would ideally be rewritten to PaidVerts, but again - it's currently not worth the investment, as it wouldn't change much in the big picture. Most of the bottlenecks come not from PV or PTC but from MTV or some interconnected things. And if one of our websites using the DB cluster is causing issues, it transfers to all the rest usually. The core of any slowness issue is the same as it has been for years - DB slowing down in certain circumstances - a lot of these circumstances have been improved/fixed over the years, but quite a few not-easy-to-fix remain. Maintenance fees going down is mainly a result of inactive members' accounts being cleaned, not because of active members dropping. When we implemented these, the daily charges were $100+ as there were simply hundreds of thousand of non-cleaned accounts, and as those got cleaned, naturally these charges drop, as there's less to clean. Pretty much anything that needs to be cached is cached. But it's not cache that is the problem, it's the cache calculations that are the problem which are in many places not decoupled from the user requests. And should be ideally offloaded to crons or static archives. And reworking everything to that(well at least the crucial parts), is not simple/cheap/fast.
