I think that it's because the minimum bid was raised back to $5 and requires $5 increments starting at that minimum bid, making it $10 to overbid an existing one.We didn't do such a promotion before, so I'm only 95% sure that that's the case.

Well I just tried it and it works, but I'm not gonna lie, this should have been explained better... Especially since you have to type the $10 in manually instead of just clicking the arrow buttons. Who is gonna figure that out unless they try all sorts of things or visit the forum to know what's going on? Had I known that $2 needs to be outbid by $10 I would've bought a ton of spots for that price.

You are definitely right, it is somewhat sloppy.We are most likely going to do "some sort" of promotion during Christmas and this time we'll have some experience and will make sure things work more smoothly. But due to high volume of traffic and some unexpected errors we've had a long and busy day yesterday and were focused on keeping the website running as smoothly as possible so we could at least keep our promotion going as planned. But yeah.. When we have a temporary discount, it really is temporary, next time try to profit from any of our upcoming discounts as much as possible!

Well, this issue will cost me a little bit of extra money now but whatever, I'm over it. Also just as a heads up, during the promotion it also wasn't possible to outbid already existing $5 bids with $7 (I guess it still required $10?) And I would've liked to use the promotion in some way but my laptop decided to take 3 hours this morning (not kidding) to boot up.

good to hear a Christmas promotion is coming up. I suggest you get your promo material out at least a week, maybe two weeks before to get the hype up, give people a chance to get promo ads out, get people signed up and get cash in their accounts. Maybe a countdown clock as someone else has suggested (and can we do that on splash pages?)I guess we need to think of the timeline regarding how much time it will take someone to do each of those tasks and then that is how much time we need for hyping things up. Our home audience will only need time to get cash into their accounts but of course getting new members will be signing up * getting cash in their accounts etc. This will be most important the first time until people get the idea that we will offer this every year, then they will be prepared That said, this promo was pretty well run and I'm glad the site didn't crash. You guys handled your side with a minimum of complaints and bugs And I just has an idea for the countdown. You could have a giant Christmas present on the splash and landing page. the slogan could be "our Christmas gift to you" with a countdown for when it can be opened maybe even offer gift bonuses for clicking on the gift or a random gift every time someone buys a certain level of ads This has a lot of potential

This promotion was also good for free users, I don't see many recycled ads since that rush against refunding. More the CT ads! (And please, in what category i should put my ticket about the CT campaing of just 40 views instead of 80, could someone help?)
