It increases safety by writing the same data on two drives, while increasing speed by interleaving data across two mirrored "virtual" drives. RAID 1+0 provides the most security and speed but uses more drives than standard config. This way we'll have ~480 GB for database, more RAM, better CPU and more space on HDDs of course.
