I seems to be gaining refs so I see little point for refund.. some inactive some active.. I am hoping to see these referrals become active and to be part of MTV/PV community.

It is not accurate now. When I refunded some people I took them out of the rotator so there are not as many spots taking the referrals. Marc had 20 spots and he covered most of the costs for the month. There are still referrals but the cost to produce those are over $2 (and I'm not even counting the cost of the free hits I give) which is not good. It will take too long for people to recover their funds at that rate. That is not a good use of their earnings here. They would be better spent on BAPs

Also, referring relies more on the small 5% of big spenders than on the 45% clickers or the other 50% of dead referrals to make cash flow. So if you are in the co-op, the chance of you getting someone from the 5% to cover your costs is very low at the rate we are currently referring. It was already a stretch at the 50 cent to $1 cost rate.

It would be cool if we could create big enough co op to have yearly ad on Neo.. I think then the cost/ ref would be good but also. It would give massive exposure for PV.

I doubt it would take much time for programmer to make a simple rotator with users links taking part in it. could automatically even swap between earners page and home page.

What about MTV making its own Co OP for PV.. for those wishing to take a apart in it.

Especially since there is quite a big incentive to refer (referrer ad issues for one) but the costs for doing so are often more expensive alone.

$20440 or $56 per day. The daily rate is $85 so the savings would be substantial but you would need to consider saturation as a potential problem

The thing is, if we put banners (or a banner or text ads or something similar) on the top of our landing page that would also go towards paying the cost because advertisers like the greater exposure banner ads like that create. We wouldn't just be marketing their banners to our membership but also to every site our home page is placed on. More eyes = more clicks and a broader appeal

I would suggest creating a splash page targetted for clickers, and use it to in the coop instead of the homepage. It would give prospects more idea about how paidverts works and convert better.

I wonder if the old home page will still convert better? I'm thinking we could bring that back as a splash page somehow

We could also run a contest for splash page design giving out cash or BAPs. Then just let users use them all but have a counter showing which ones convert better (including active clickers and cash spent. We can keep the individuals anonymous) since we can track that kind of thing.

Regarding adding banners to the page - It would simply get too spammy and actually take away from the design.
In the grand scheme of things it wouldn´t deduct that many views either.

We have some plans to clean up the backlog of banner views, you will see it implemented soon wink
Thereafter, when we can guarantee fast delivery, we will increase the price of banners as they will be a lot more valuable again by then.

I liked the old page much more than this new one now...
I wonder if our prog`s would have time now to make it into a splash and try your idea, dguy...
Maybe a combination of the old look and this new ``dual`` logging look...would be a win-win situation...

Since the rework, the banners are getting a lot more prominence, esp. 125×125 and 728×90. I think they are worth more now.

They are worth more but banners on the home page (even one would do) works the same as a sign on your business. There are people who will see it who may never enter your door.

I just found this old pv splash made by one of our members a long time ago. We can't use it now because it has paypal but it shows the creativity the members have:

Hmm. I did not get an email notification but I received 2 new referrals on the 7'th of December, both active and clicking Ads.

This is from a small $10 spot on the Co-Op, so I'm quite happy.

MTV could make a special user for the rotator which could be then be checked with simply IF condition and a small query to data tables.

1. small datatable with usernames, timestamp of last ref, and amount of refs gained.
at least I think in this case it would be better to have small separate table rather than querying millions of rows for a bool "inrotator. "

2. PV would check which of the users in rotator has the least amount of refs and pick them as sponsor.

This method would give very consistent results as the system in PV would take care of who the next referral goes to.

To make it it even better we could fully override the normal referrer cookie too with a special cookie for the those taking part in rotator.

Regarding funding: MTV could use the funding page we have already.

Sorry for the complicated explanation.. I am programmer but not a marketer grin

That makes sense. So you are put in a lineup and move from the back to the front. Then you stay in the front of the lineup until you are given your referral

I'm also toying with the idea of having a limit on how many spots you can buy. Maybe 5 at this point until the co-op grows bigger. That way the system doesn't get flooded by one or two members. This way, even if we have a smaller amount of referrals, the dispersal rate is more even

edit: and by doing this more people get the referral bonus which should help to pay back what they paid for referrals. I didn't think about it much before but that referral bonus will be key to the success and profitability of the ad co-op I think

I'm done with my testing and I've learned a few things.

- The rotator is still getting about 1 signup per every 2000 -3000 hits. This is pretty good and pretty consistent.
- On non neobux ad days my network is producing around 5 referrals per day.
- Neobux is producing between 50 - 100 referrals per ad. So there is a good stream of referrals coming in.
- I can do nothing about the rotator and just hope it continues to deliver relatively consistent returns.
- The earner's page produces a little better results than the home page so I'll go with that to give us an extra edge. That will be the default. If you want the home page I can change it
- I also have no clue how the cookie system works but I assume the longer you are in the ad stream the more consistent your referrals will be.

With this data, I propose to make the following changes:

The focus will be on getting people to the referral bonus moreso than on getting income from their referral. I think this will be the faster route to breaking even from your referrals. To achieve this I'll put a limit of 5 spots per month for now until we can grow the ad base big enough to handle larger purchases. This will make the dispersal more even. Your job will be to get those referrals as active as possible in order for you to get your bonus

The co-op will still buy a minimum of one NB ad per week.

The holidays are right on top of us so I'll make a fresh start in January. I'll spend the rest of the month making up for lost time for anyone who didn't take a refund and we can use this a bit to see if the new format helps. I've already reactivated those accounts that didn't get a refund so you should see some referrals soon

Finally, I offer you an apology for messing everything up so bad and hope to be able to make it up to you with lots of referral cash cool
