Good evening MTV-ers,

I've actually managed to shake loose a bit of cash I might deposit to buy some more shares. In the past I used bank wire when that was still an option and more recently I used STP. My FTQ-investment still in the queue is with STP. STP's alright I think, but what are the odds of such a processor disappearing overnight? Are they reliable?

I'm thinking of starting to use Bitcoin but having browsed through a guide I find it all very intangible, strange and unsafe. Many of us seem to use it well and it does seem the way forward. What to do?

Cheers

STP  is a pretty safe processor. They been around for at least 10 years that i know of. Havent took to the time to actual go see when they started. Never had any problems with them other then the fact they are a buyer be ware business. Meaning they offer no support if you get scammed or very little support if they can prove the transaction went through on their side.

They should be really good for you since they are based out of Canada.  That means if you have to mail in any documents it should not take a month to get there.

Bitcoin is a fairly safe system as long as you know the parties your dealing with. Only downsides to it is it have to have confirmations before processing, based on how long it takes to process your fund might be more or less then what you planned to get or send unless the site your dealing with locks in the amount at time of transaction and adjusts the numbers according to the raise and fall of bitcoin prices

Thanks bigbadmoose, for your story about STP. Yes, so far I've worked well with them. My account is verified and all. By the way, my MTV account at some point randomly displayed Canada as my home-country, while I am actually from The Netherlands just like Marc! Its strange.

Yes, I was aware of the rise and fall of bitcoin prices and wondered how Bitcoin-users normally manage. It could swing in your direction or it won't and then your planning is screwed up.

Update: looks like it switched back to The Netherlands somehow. I didn't do it. Perhaps a mod read it and changed it ninja ?

STP is safe, just very expensive.
They used to be big, nowadays they lost the battle to all the other processors like payeer, advcash, Perfect Money.. But most people use bitcoin nowadays.
I was very reluctant at first as it requires you to learn about it and it seemed so complicated.. But it's not.
And i'm very glad I made the step from STP to Bitcoin.

I changed back your country to the netherlands wink.

Sorry to disagree but for me, STP is NOT safe. STP and PM are, in my own experience the more unsafe ones. I had hacking attempts on pretty much all. Neteller, Payeer (both blocking access to my account to avoid it), PM (got stolen around $130 I cashed out from MTV) and STP. I actually profited from the STP hack but it shows how unsafe it can be. I had 2FA active as well. They managed to send money to my account, login and send that money to another account. All without me not even noticing it. got a call from STP security center asking if I made those transactions which caught me surprised as I hadn`t logged in/used it for a long time.

At least they were nice and left me a "tip" of $9 for the trouble tongue Now, if I have tio use it, I don`t keep any balance there. Too risky for me... and yes, I always thought they were a pain in the butt with all that security bs... but it did happened.

Thanks for your story. I never keep a balance in STP or any other processor for that matter. So far no weird transactions yet, checked the log to be sure. I'll try to get a grasp on Bitcoin again, I don't give up easily.

MisterGreen I thought you were from the Netherlands when i made that post. But I second guessed myself and thought i might be wrong. Glad you back digitally to your home country.

YES.

FBG has a Programmer that accepts Skrill for salary earnings.

Obviously, it's only for them, and not a site account. Meaning, it's just a more secure trusted "exchange" for Skrill to FBG member.

If FBG gets too many deposits via Skrill, aka months of salary paid ahead, they would have to stop deposits, until the salary ahead is more manageable.

I don't know their salary, nor how much extra they would allow, nor how much they "typically" get.

BTW, from what I recall, Skrill as a site account requires more qualifications than we can meet at the time.

You can make Skrill deposits with a support ticket. As druth8x said, a programmer uses it and will be manually added to your account.

So I'm educating myself a bit more about Bitcoin. What wallet would you recommend, if any bitcoin user is reading this? I like to use a web app, I know the dangers of this, but there are dangers with storing anything anywhere.

I'd say coinbase or bitstamp. If you want to buy from your bank from a country which uses SEPA, bitstamp is the way to go.

I use coinbase for most of my transactions, and I normally don't pay any fees. They're pretty good for that matter, but I believe bitstamp doesn't require fees either.

I hope this is not a silly question, but what about Xapo? That is something like Bitstamp does it, or am I wrong?

Okay, another question from me about Bitstamp. What is the difference between Bitstamp and Xapo? I am not into bitcoin that much, but I want to know more about it.

@diete031 Xapo is a good wallet. Until recently it offered 0 send/receive fees, but now it has also implemented fee system. No idea about Bitstamp, but big fishes often recommend it.

Bitstamp is good for EU users.
Fast deposit.
On Monday it took 4h for me to get funds deposited on bitstamp via SEPA order.
Probably because of slovenian bank number
